Staff Reporter: Although the police at the field level will have weapons like rifles, they will not have heavy weapons. Specialized units like the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) will have heavy weapons.
Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. (retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury made these remarks to reporters after visiting the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) headquarters in the capital on Saturday (June 14) morning.
Citing the example of the improvement in the law and order situation, the Home Affairs Advisor said, “Everything went well this Eid. There were a few incidents of theft and robbery. But there were no major problems. This shows that the law and order situation has improved a lot. The better it gets, the better. We are trying to improve it further.”

Regarding the use of deadly weapons by APBN members, he said, “The rules of APBN and the rules of normal police are not the same. If a war situation arises, they join the army and fight. Everyone will fight, but they have to fight from the front lines, so their equipment is a little different from other forces.”
He also said that each force will have its own weapons. However, the heavy weapons, which are meant to be lethal weapons, will be with the APBN members.
