News Asia24 Desk: The government will buy soybean worth 208 crore 82 lakh 70 thousand taka.
This oil will be procured locally through open tender process for Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB).
1 crore 3 million liters of soybeans will be available in this.
This proposal was approved in the 33rd meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement held today Wednesday (October 4) under the chairmanship of Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.
After the meeting, Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division. Syed Mahbub Khan said that for TCB under the Ministry of Commerce, in the fiscal year 2023-2024, approval has been given to buy 500,000 liters of soybean oil locally through open tender system.
Oil will be purchased from Super Oil Refinery Limited. It will cost 79 crore 27 lakh 50 thousand taka.
Apart from this, 8 million liters of soybean oil will be purchased from Meghna Edible Oil Refinery Limited for TCB in the fiscal year 2023-2024 through local open tender system.
The purchase price of which is 129 crore 55 lakh 20 thousand taka.
Earlier, in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement held on September 20, in view of the proposal of the Ministry of Commerce, approval was given for TCB to purchase 8 million liters of soybean oil from City Edible Oil Limited in the fiscal year 2023-2024 locally through open tender system. The purchase price of which is 128 crore 24 lakh taka. Soybean oil will cost 160 taka 30 paisa per liter.
In another proposal on that day, approval was given for TCB to purchase 6.5 lakh liters of rice bran oil at Tk 103 crore 35 lakh through direct purchase method locally.
In this case, the price per liter will be 159 taka.
This oil is allowed to be purchased from Majumdar Products Limited and MRT Agro Products Limited.
