NewsAsia24 Desk: A 14-year-old student opened fire at a school in Russia. Five students were injured and one student was killed.
The incident happened at a school in Bryansk, a border region of Ukraine, around noon local time on Thursday (December 7).
Russian state news agency RIA Novosti reported that one of the injured was in critical condition.
A video shared by Rhea Novosti shows children hiding behind a door in a classroom during the attack. The door is blocked by tables and chairs.
Russia’s Investigative Committee RIA said preliminary investigations showed the 14-year-old girl brought a pump-action shotgun to school. He later started shooting at his classmates.
The RIA also said the girl’s father has been detained for questioning.
It should be noted that such incidents have occurred in several schools in Russia in recent years.

In September 2022, a gunman opened fire at a school in central Russia, killing 17 and wounding 24. Later he committed suicide by shooting himself.
In April 2022, a man killed a staff member along with two children at a kindergarten in central Russia.
In May 2021, a man opened fire on his former high school students in Kazan, Russia, killing nine, including seven children.
